ITMA latest news
President’s welcome
As the first ITMA newsletter to be produced since I was very proudly elected as the Association’s President at our recent AGM, I would like to take this opportunity to share some of my thoughts about the future of our industry and my vision for ITMA during my tenure.
However, firstly I would like to offer my sincere thanks to David Seward who has led us so well over the past two years. I only hope I can deliver similar levels of success and progress!
Without a doubt, we will encounter a number of significant challenges in the years ahead as we will continue to see more rules and legislative requirements introduced. While these are often introduced for the benefit of consumers, which can only be a positive move, we need to ensure that we are positioned as best we can to influence and react to these accordingly.
Thankfully, at present ITMA is extremely well-equipped to deal with many of these new regulations added very considerably to the technical support we offer, established some significant and important relationships as well as an ever-growing member base.
It is imperative that we build upon this success and continue to do so in a manner that delivers exceptional value for our members. This means that we must ensure members remain well informed on all relevant technical and legislative updates in a timely manner so that they can develop their own individual business responses accordingly and compete effectively within the region.
In recent years, we have significantly strengthened our capabilities in this area which have been well received, and I am keen to continue this movement during my tenure.
However, if we are to develop this even further, we will need to modify our approach, explore new avenues and most importantly enter into even greater levels of discussion and dialogue with other organisations and regulators. It will be critical that we put aside any self-interests and examine ways that benefit of not only our own members but the wider industry as a whole.
And although we already enjoy good levels of representation within Europe, it is important that we build upon this foundation and develop even stronger and wider relationships which allow us to represent our members needs even more effectively.
I’m confident that with such an approach ITMA will continue to grow, serve the needs of its members properly and become an increasingly important and influential element in the global tyre market. I am looking forward to my time as President of ITMA, and of course, if you have any other views or opinions that you would like to share or discuss with me, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Alfred Graham
President, ITMA
