ITMA latest news
Size Matters
ITMA remains the only body in Europe to represent the interests of non-EU based tyre manufacturers. It currently looks after the interests of more than a dozen tyre manufacturers and 25 brands from around the globe which form a significant and important part of the market.
Links and influence
Navigating Europe’s decision making channels is a difficult task at the best of times. For manufacturers with R&D facilities outside of the EU, the challenge is compounded further. To assist importers in this area, ITMA employs its own Brussels-based technical consultant. This important role ensures ITMA members have a direct interface, representation and communication channels with the European Commission, other regulatory bodies and associations, and other European based manufacturers. This key strategic role ensures that members have access to the latest legislative and technical changes and developments.
In the UK, ITMA was one of the founder members of the Tyre Industry Federation (TIF), which is the collective voice of the industry in Britain. Through this involvement, ITMA has direct links into various Government agencies so its members are properly represented and informed.
ITMA’s members also benefit from participation within the Associations’ own European technical group. Established in 2009, the group meets four times a year to discuss a wide range of technical issues and explore any potential technical synergies. Many of the attendees at this group are very well informed, making it an extremely valuable knowledge resource for other members.
