ITMA latest news
More new members for ITMA
China’s Shandong Wanda Boto tyre company and Japan’s Falken tyres have become the latest tyre manufacturers to join the growing ranks of ITMA members.Falken Tyres, a brand of Japanese conglomerate Sumitomo Rubber Industries, with a European headquarters in Frankfurt, has gained a respected presence across the continent with its range of high performance tyres and high profile motorsport involvement with the likes of the American Le Mans Series and Nürburgring 24 Hours.
Established in 2004, Shandong Wanda Boto, which employs more than 5,000 people, has an annual production of some 400,000 tyres for truck, bus light truck and off-the-road vehicles, making it one of the world’s top 40 tyre producers.
By joining ITMA, both manufacturers will have even more input into their technical departments, helping them comply with the growing number of complex requirements needed to legally sell tyres within the European Union.
“We’re delighted to welcome more new members to the growing ITMA family,” commented Alfred Graham, president, ITMA. “It’s becoming increasingly difficult for tyre importers to understand and keep up-to-date with the vast number of regulations affecting the sale of tyres in Europe. By joining ITMA, I’m sure we will be able to assist them greatly, helping their efforts within the region.”
The new additions now takes ITMA membership up to a record 21 companies.
